San Diego Yogurt was born in 1988 as a franchise in a tiny store at Yonge & Major Mac. After several years in business it became independent. Slowly, Schools from Richmond Hill started to place orders in order to fundraise with Frozen Yogurt realizing what a BIG HIT it was. Former owners, planning to retire, sold this wonderful business to us in December 2003. One year later, the store was closed and business moved to a small facility in Woodbridge to focus 100% on the wholesale market and expand the delivery service across GTA. Since then, our product has been in over 550 Schools, Summer Institutes, Sport Clubs and Summer Camps. Nowadays San Diego also reaches many Schools in Southern Ontario through an excellent Food Service Distributor.
In summer 2010 we moved to a bigger facility in Concord (Dufferin & Steeles) which has helped us to operate from a very strategic place, literally GTA's geographic heart, allowing many Schools to pick up and save. Yogurt complies with the Ministry of Education School Food and Beverage Policy, fitting into the sell most criteria. However, whenever our product is considered a milk based dessert, it fits into the sell less criteria. Good to know either sell most or sell less, always approved by the Ministry's Policy.
San Diego is also thankful for having the opportunity to grow with the Boards, servicing Model Schools and for being the first business in Canada to pack Frozen Yogurt in compostable portion cups ... thinking green !!!
Twenty four years in business, hundreds of Schools and thousands of orders back up our product's quality.
Our warmest thanks to Parent Councils and Volunteers for only their hard work makes this program possible to Schools.
May this year be full of learning, friendship, music, sports, healthy snacks and fun !
